Meet your educator

Hi, I'm Amelia

I'm a qualified Transition to Parenting facilitator with over seven years' experience supporting parents through the postnatal period, and I was previously an antenatal educator for Nelson Parents Centre. Alongside Into Parenthood, I work for a charity focused on reducing material hardship during the first 2,000 days of a child's life.

A māmā of two, I love family bike rides, pottery, good food and Nelson's beaches. My classes are warm, balanced and evidence-informed — designed to help you feel genuinely prepared and supported, whatever your journey looks like.

— Amelia

Beyond birth

Support that continues into the fourth trimester

The journey doesn't end at birth. Into Parenthood keeps supporting you through the early weeks and months — to learn, share and connect with other local parents.

Hot Topics

Relaxed, short sessions to learn, share and connect. Each one dives into a different postnatal topic — with plenty of time for questions, chat and a bikkie.

Postnatal Groups

A great chance to get out of the house, connect with other parents, and share the joys and challenges of life with a new baby.

Into Parenthood alumni get first access to postnatal groups and workshops.
Kind words

Loved by local whānau

I loved how Amelia held the space with authenticity, vulnerability and openness. Her nurturing approach felt really supportive in teaching us to be kind to ourselves as prospective parents and when our little one arrives.

Amelia was amazing — not only with the course content, but also her balanced responses to our questions. She approached it with balance and left us feeling empowered.

I was beyond impressed — to the extent I mention it to a lot of friends and will recommend future parents to also participate in this course if they’re able to!

Highly recommend Amelia to any first-time parents who want to learn and feel more confident on their journey into parenthood.

Good to know

Antenatal class FAQs

Who teaches the childbirth education class?
Amelia is a trained Childbirth Educator dedicated to supporting parents with evidence and options around pregnancy, birth and into parenthood. Find out more about Amelia.
What's different about Into Parenthood antenatal courses?
These courses focus on balanced, evidence-informed antenatal education while supporting you to make informed decisions about your pregnancy, labour, birth and parenting. Based on feedback from hundreds of local parents, each course has a strong focus on postpartum and early parenting — covering baby sleep, feeding, postpartum planning and baby care. Ongoing access to an online resource library is included, and each course has a chat group and is encouraged to set up an ongoing meet-up.
Will we have to watch a birth video?
No — nothing is compulsory! For those who are interested, there may be an optional birth viewing.
What about a coffee or parents group?
At the end of your childbirth education course, each group is supported to set up a group chat and first meet-up. For those interested, these coffee / baby / new-parent groups are often a highlight of attending a small, local antenatal course.
When should I enrol for an antenatal class?
Spaces are limited and fill quickly. Book as early in your pregnancy as you can by emailing intoparenthood@gmail.com.
Is there anything else we should book to complement this course?
We simply can't cover everything about pregnancy, labour, birth and parenting in one course, no matter how hard we try! First-aid education is not included but is highly recommended for every parent, grandparent and whānau member.
What if I need to cancel?
Please get in touch if you need to cancel. Cancellations (such as a change of mind) within two weeks of the course may incur a non-refundable booking fee of $50.
